Tamed
I am very interested in the changing role animals play in our lives. Some we have been able to domesticate - cows, goats, housecats - and some we have actually tamed and given various jobs - horses and dogs. Our lives historically have been intertwined with animals. Even their physiology can be determined by the work we have had them do, from large draught horses designed to pull weight to small dogs designed to go down burrows after rodents. But in the modern world, it is common to live without animals altogether. I wonder what effect this has on people. It’s a big change and must effect everything from our immune systems to our interpersonal relationships.
